Lazy me

Arghhh .. so it's been almost 2 weeks since I've come back from my Europe trip and I haven't posted any entries up but i will do when i get back to Perth. Right now escaping the winter on Christmas Island and catching up with the paros and friends. My camera doesn't wanna load onto the computer so no piccies!!

Short update:

London: I loved it, wouldn't mind living there. People are friendly, weather was reasonably pleasant while I was there. Great train system.

Paris: Lovely architecture, absolutely beautiful but disliked the bad traffic and some of the people were rude, having said that there were some helpful people as well. Yummy food :)

Enjoy the rest of the holidays while you still can, back to Uni on Monday! woo!~

My London/Paris Contiki Tour

Welcome to London!

Ahhh, been very very lazy and the only net we found was 5 euros for 15 mins which is like almost 9 AU bucks which really isn't worth it! This is going to be sooooooo long but It'll just be a little reminder of the trip for me so feel free not to read it :D! I don;t blame ya!

Day 0: Very Excited, bags packed ready to go!! Despite the gay cold i caught TODAY, so did some last minute shopping for some cold&flu tablets and cough lollies!! Our flight to Dubai was leaving at 10pm and Robbie had taken me and weiferz to the airport 2hours before for checking in. He got us both travel neck pillows which were absolute life savers !! for our 20 hour flight (including transit time haha)!! On the Emirates flight, it was delightful!! We got little bags packed with socks, mini tooth brush and paste and eye patches!! which came in handy!! Our first meal was Chicken Parmagiana!!! SO GOOD!!!

Day 1: It was an 11 hour flight to Dubai and it was pretty disappointing that we didn't get to stop there. Couldn't see much of the city and the airport was so large so no pretty views! Inside was pretty big though! Plenty of shops and relatively cheap! They work with Dirhams and US dollars so I had some US dollars on me! We ran around the shops before heading to our gate for another 6.5 hour trip to London! I thought there was an 8 hour difference with Perth but there was day light saving for Summer so it was only a 7 hour difference! Once we had arrived, we decided to catch a taxi to our hotel, not familiar with the area we thought it was the best option. They have really cute looking cabs in London, they all look the same.

Cab in London

OMG, it costed us an expensive 63 POUNDS ($AU134) however the taxi drivers are well trained in London and he was basically giving us a mini tour and we saw alot of the main areas as we headed towards Imperial Hotel where we were staying! The weather was around 20ish degrees and was nice and sunny!! Checked in at 2pm and were meant to meet up with the Contiki group at 6pm so we had some time to kill. Decided to walk around the area and visited a couple of souvenior shops and went to the British Museum which was just round the corner from the hotel. We returned to the hotel to get ready and meet up with the group!! So many Americans!! A few Australians and we caught the names of like 3 girls and had dinner at 7:30pm and talked to some Texan ladies. Our tour manager was an Australian!! Me and Weif were trying to work out his accent and didn't realise how familiar it was! We can pick out the American accents, the British accents and we realised when we don't know what it is, it's most likely Australian!! And our bus driver was a Kiwi!!

After dinner with the group we went to a nearby pub called the Porter House and it was rather quiet being a Monday night. Weifers bought me a drink and had an early night, went back to the hotel with these two girls from Florida, Kristie and Liz!!

Day 2: Got up real early, today's itinerary: Bath and Stone Henge!!! Had our free continental breakfast which consisted of Bacon, scrambled eggs. sausages and toast!! Very English! Yumm! We took a two hour trip to the Stonehenge, once we arrived the tour manager played the song 'ice ice baby' and said everytime that song plays you can remember the stonehenge!! We had a audio guided tour and heard some really interesting stories of the sarsen and blue stone rocks. Apparently the blue stones are from Wales and there's mysteries on how they got there and what they are for. The 'Druids' are like these sun worshipping people and we saw one with a white robe with his mobile phone! haha!

A Druid

Next stop! Roman Bath! The tour guide told us a story of how King Edgar had a son that contracted leprosy and was cut off from everyone so he went to the Bath area and met these little pigs which followed him. The poor pigs also contracted leprosy but as they rolled around in this mud which had a spring underneath they were cured so he was like "what de heck" and decided to roll around in the mud as well! He was also cured from the disease and went back to the Kingdom to claim his throne back! What a lovely story. So we went on the Roman Bath tour and we got to taste this spring water that is so-called 'good' for you. Weif said it stank like eggs but I hadn't gotten my sense of smell back yet, so it tasted like water to me!! We had some cornish pasties! from some side cafe and shopped on some of the side markets that were there. It was a 3 hour trip back to the hotel and we had a theme song called 'No rain' by Blindmelon which woke us up everytime it was played! (it was our wake up song)

For dinner, Weif and I went to Brunswick Shopping and ate at an Italian restaurant called Strada and had one of the best spaghetti ever! It was so damn nice! We had intentions of going to the Camden markets but the lady at the Underground told us it closed at 7pm so I'm pretty disappointed because I was told it was a good place so shop, so maybe another time!! All the shops were closing and me and weif didn't feel like going to the pub with the others so we randomly decided to visit Buckingham palace hoping we would see the Queen! We caught the tube to Green park and walked to Buckingham palace where we took some pictures and we wanted to see those fuzzy head guards but it was too late and they had already gone in!! We met two girls who asked us to take their pictures and they were from Italy and we're like "WOW" and they asked us and we said we're from Australia and she goes "That's way more good" HAH sif! Also met these other girls from Sydney that were on vacation. It was like 10pm and it was bright as, the sun didn't set til half past ten!

Day 3: Last day in London!!! Today we got up early to go site-seeing around London!! We saw the London Bridge & London Tower and Stu told us a story of how the Americans bought the London bridge thinking it was the London tower, haha, implying they were stupid which was pretty fun as most of the people were Americans. Also saw the Big Ben & Parliament house and the London Eye. The Westminister Abbey which is a church that Princess Diana & Prince Charles refused to get married in because it's too 'small' but it's friggen huge!!!! Also went past St. Paul's Cathedral and after all those places we were dropped off at Trafalgar square where me, weif and a couple of our newly made friends decided to go off to the Buckingham palace again to see the infamous changing of the guards!!! On the way there, we went past St James palace where WE FINALLY GOT TO TAKE PICS WITH THE FUZZY HEAD GUARDS!!! there were like heaps of people lining up to take pictures with them! haha...they couldn't move and i swear the two of them were trying not to smile/laugh and every once in awhile they would change their gun position whether you were in their way or not.

Fuzzy head guards!!

We finally got to Buckingham palace and it was SO DAMN PACKED!! Apparently it's like this everyday (or every second day?) Anyhoos I hardly could see anything the entire time!! A band came in and there were many horses and the fuzzy head guards marched in. Got to film a little bit of it, there were many people on others shoulders!! Next we decided to go see the Big Ben!!! We took lots of pictures with the Big ben and WestMinister Abbey right across it, then we walked and caught the tube to St John;s to see the place. Very delicate carvings, we went in but we weren't allowed to take pictures so we decided not to stay. After that we left our friends and decided to do some last minute souvenir shopping & ate at an Indian restaurant nearby. The Indian food in London is said to be great and it was delicious!!

At night we got ready for the West End Musical: Lord of the Rings. (Musicals are a big thing in London, it's like..going to watch a movie!) Never been to a musical before and did not have much of an expectation for it because it sounded a little bit boring but I like Lord of the rings so decided to go and it was amazingly fantastic! They had the best special effects! There was a bit where Bilbo disappeared and it looked awesome!! The Golem actor was great, there wasnt much singing. It was quite funny as well, overall a great production! Wouldn't mind watching another musical! It ended quite late (3 hours) and went back to the hotel and bedded as tomorrow we were going to PARIS!!

Birdies on a string

Robbie will be looking after Peanut and Sky whilst I travel halfway around the world to explore Europe! We weren't sure where to put the birds because they're rather noisy to be in the house and cats might scare/eat 'em if they're left outside somewhere. Hence - the rope! We tied it at chest-level so it can be fed easily. It was rather windy outside, i hope it doesn't swing too much, but we found an old white bedsheet to wrap around (held by pegs) to keep 'em warm at night.

You don't mess with the Zohan (2008)

8/10

This is a hilarious comedy starring Adam Sandler who does an excellent job being an Israeli Soldier who wants to be a hair dresser. He fakes his death against a Palestinean terrorist in the Middle East before heading to America to live his dream. Alot of sexual innuendo and some of the parts were really silly but still funny all the same. Highly recommended for laughs and Adam Sandler fans.

My blog is becoming a movie review...it's holidays!

Drillbit Taylor (2008)

7/10
This movie is about two boys entering high school and getting bullied because of how geeky they look. Sick and tired of being pushed around, they hire a body guard (Owen Wilson) to protect them from the bullies however Drillbit Taylor has his own agenda in mind. Good for laughs but nothing special.

Getting ready to travel

I have been warned that there are many pick-pocketers in Europe and to keep my handbags and wallets close! I found a very likable brand called Design Go that makes many useful travel accessories in vibrant colours and designs! I bought the money belt --> which is worn next to the skin and covered by clothes and the glo strap for security and identification of my luggage. It's bright pink :D!

I was looking through the site for more of their products and I really love the Pink hearted locks and mini torches! It's not just security things that they sell, their products ranges from Electrical needs, Mosquito & Personal Health, Pillows, Locks, Straps, Tags to Clothes and other travel essentials.

Leonardo Da Vinci Machines Exhibition

We wanted to go the Da Vinci Expo but we got there at ten to 5 and it shuts at 5pm. The good news is we still got to take pictures behind the Mona Lisa painiting - no the good news is, it will be open everyday 10am - 5pm until August the 10th (They extended it from the 21 of July).
Will have to try and catch it before it ends :). For more information: click here

Bocce and Twister Picnic

On Sunday, we went on a little picnic with some Uni friends at Kings Park. We were planning to have a barbeque but realised it will probably all be used up so we just brought in food instead. Me and Robbie had the drinks duty which is probably one of the easiest but I have to say, we did a pretty crappy job. Our drinks weren't even cold, no cups, no eskies, just went to the shops 5 mins before heading off to the picnic! Ash, on the other hand, had the desserts duty and she did such a great job ---> babycakes with blue icing and purple and silver sprinkles, chocolate mousse sprinkled with more chocolate (flakes) and assorted lollies!!

Anyhoos, there was also salad and chicken, chips and nuggets from chicken treat and chips and crackers! After eating we had a game of twister except we were all very un-flexible and decided to play a game of bocce instead! I have never played Bocce before, it is like a game of lawn bowls except instead of rolling the balls, you throw them! (The aim of the game is the get closest to the jack, which is this mini ball) That was fun! It was a little bit dangerous with little kids running around the park but ten points if you hit a kid!

The sun was nice and hot that day and I lazed around for a bit. Also had a bit of kick-around with Robbie, of a netball that someone had brought. It was a nice day out.

I heart superman

Today I bought Robbie a Bape Superhero Jacket, I am so in love with it! Ain't it just so awesome? Wonder woman is the cutest character on it I reckon. Usually I don't like most of the Bape designs because they're weird and complicated but some of them are alright. Robbie also has a skeleton one from Bape which glows in the dark.

Be Kind Rewind (2008)

6/10
I have been watching a lot of movies lately, but I must admit this one didn't do much for me. I haven't seen any of other movies from Michel Gondry but he is known for his visual techniques so perhaps this is why I lack to see the beauty of this movie. The trailer was so much better than the movie itself however Jack Black is still one of my favourites.

The film starts off with the final production before introducing Mos Def who is asked to run the last VHS tape shop in the neighborhood. Jerry (Jack Black) tries to convince Mos Def to come with him to sabotage the power plant because he thinks they're trying to melt his brain. Mos Def comes along but doesn't go through with the operation and Jerry gets stuck in an electrical current and gets magnetised.

Jerry manages to erase all the tapes, which leaves them to re-make (swede) the movies using all kinds of 'techniques' that Gondry is famous for. I wouldn't recommend this movie unless you have a passion for film-making or have nothing else better to do.

Kids say the darnest things

Today Robbie's Mum told us about how she saw one of Moni's friends, Isobel, catching the bus, but she wasn't sure if it was her because she had grown awfully tall. I asked if it was the aboriginal one from her old school, and she said yes. Moni asked "Is she aboriginal? Does that mean she's from Aborigina?" hahhaha ...so her dad was trying to explain to her that they are the first Australians and she was like "How can she be the first when she's only 7!" and her dad continued trying to explain by saying "Not her, her forefathers, forefathers" Monica's respone: "FOUR FATHERS? That's like having 4 dads screaming at me".

Meet Po: Kung Fu Panda

8/10
This has got to be one of the funniest cartoons I've seen in awhile. I just love the character Po, he is so damn lazy, reminds me very much of myself. It's a story about this Panda that's crazy about Kung Fu and the legendary Furious Five, and if you have seen the previews they are the Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey. I absolutely love the names of the masters, Shifu and Oogway, which means like master and turtle in mandarin. Po 'accidentally' gets chosen to be the the dragon warrior which seems like an impossible task because he's so fat and lazy. It features a lot of famous actors for the voiceovers such as Jack Black, Angelina Jollie, Lucy Lui and Jacky Chan.

Salami and Cheese Burger

I'm sick of eating sandwiches so I bought some burger buns instead :)

Affordable Jay Jays

This is me getting ready for work and showing you my brand new jacket :). This little eskimo costed a measley $39, I bought the army version a year or two ago for $70 and they're still in stock but for almost half its price. I've been looking around for fur jackets but they usually range our $70-100+ so I thought this was a bargain!

Birdy Buddies & Birdie Bunks

My little budgies have been shivering since the start of the cold, cold weather and I thought I'd shop around for something warm for them after exams. I went to City Farmers on High Road and man, it's one huge warehouse selling all kinds of pet supplies and food. I saw alot of dog clothes as well, very cute. Anyhoos, I went to the bird section and I wanted so many accessories :( Birdie Bunk and two Birdy Buddies. I bought a green one for peanut and a blue one for Sky :). Saving up for a bird stand and a larger bird cage!

Sweet Surprise

After a long winded day from over-singing I went home and Rob was like "aren't you visiting me?" I'm like yeah, just got home. So I went over to his place and he was like "Let's go out for dinner" and I thought we were just going out for take away or something and when I got into the car AND THERE WAS FLOWERS - first thought "Shit, did I forget an occasion or something" but no, he was just being sweet. Gosh they're so gorgeous!! Went to Hog's Breath for some hog tail fries and chicken parmagiana!! Thanks robbbbb!! <3

Doreens Birthday Bash

Happy 21st Birthday DOREEN!!!

Today was my last exam!! I was so happy to be finished. We were going to go celebrate with Doreen turning 21!!
After a long discussion of where to eat for lunch...long as in ...a week long... it is already the day and we still hadn't decided where we wanted to go for Lunch! We ended up going to Ipoh Restaurant at Myaree because we were going to go Karaoke right after that. I messaged Grace earlier to get some candles and she arrives and we were all just talking and she blurts out.. "I brought the candles!" me and Stella's faces just dropped because we were going to buy a surprise cake for Doreen. So to cover it up, Grace decided to add "f-forr my Mum, her birthday is on Friday". Lol.. Gw .. too bad Doreen DIDNT BUY IT!!! :P

After lotsa yummy food we headed to Utopia for some Karaoke action! Nothing like releasing those stress hormones from exams by busting out a song :P After some songs later, me and Grace went downstairs to purchase a choc sponge cake with beautifully decorated chocolate roses on top of it and lit up the candles before entering the room singing Happy Birthday :D accompanied by Tina's singing on the mic! T'was fun fun and then 3 hours went by in a flash and we drenched our dry, hoarse throats with 'sweet tea' full of passion.

Good day, Doreen got her birthday wish ;).
